【摘要】:Degradationinsensorperformancecanoccurduetodropping,mechanicalshockwhilemountedontheteststructure,temperaturecycles,andsoforth.Itisnecessaryanddesirabletohaveasimplemeasurementprocedurethatwillchecktheconsistencyofsensorresponse,whileholdingallothervariablesconstant.Whiletestblocksofmanydifferentkindshavebeenusedforthispurposeformanyyears,anacrylicpolymerrodoffersthebestall-aroundcombinationofsuitableacousticproperties,practicalconvenience,easeofprocurement,andlowcost.Becausetheacousticpropertiesoftheacrylicrodareknowntodependontemperature,thispracticerequiresthattherod,sensors,andcouplantbestabilizedatthesameworkingtemperature,priortoapplicationofthepractice.Attentionshouldbepaidtostorageconditionsfortheacrylicpolymerrod.Forexample,itshouldnotbeleftinafreezingorhotenvironmentovernight,unlessitisgiventimefortemperaturestabilizationbeforeuse.Properlyappliedandwithproperrecordkeeping,thispracticecanbeusedinmanyways,suchas:Todeterminewhenasensorisnolongersuitableforuse.Tochecksensorsthathavebeenexposedtohigh-riskconditionssuchasdropping,overheating,andsoforth.Togetanearlywarningofsensordegradationovertime.Toobtainmatchedsetsofsensorsandpreamplifiers.Toverifysensorsquicklybutaccuratelyinthefield,andtoassisttroubleshootingwhenachanneldoesnotpassaperformancecheck.1.1Thispracticeisusedforroutinelycheckingthesensitivityofacousticemission(AE)sensors.Itisintendedtoprovideareliable,preciselyspecifiedwayofcomparingasetofsensorsortellingwhetheranindividualsensor''ssensitivityhasdegradedduringitsservicelife,orboth.1.2Theprocedureinthispracticeisnotax201C;calibrationx201D;anddoesnotgivefrequency-responseinformation.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thispracticedoesnotpurporttorecommendonesensormanufactureroveranothernordoesitimplythatonetypeofsensorwillreactdifferentlyfromanotherwhenusingthisprocedure.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
